:) ABOUT THE TRYOUT PROCESS (:
The first tryout is the most important tryout to make if at all possible. Players are to bring the 3 tryout forms filled out, should read the Athletic Bill of Rights, and have a one time payment of $10. At the first tryout, all players will be evaluated and the first wave of girls will be given contracts to play for Grandlake VBC, they will NOT return to the 2nd tryout, those players then have 10 days to contact us to accept the contract to play. The players that do not get a contract at the first tryout are to come back to the second tryout. At the 2nd tryout we will offer contracts to players, who in turn have 10 days to accept the contract, while those that do not receive a contract will be put on a waiting list to be called at a possible later date to fill an opening on a team. The waiting list is established by skill level at their respective positions. Please note that the 12 and unders will have only 1 tryout and the 17/18's will have just the first tryout and the second one listed is just for those players that could not make the first tryout, please contact me if you are a 17/18 and can not make the first tryout date of 11/14. Our Regional teams at Grandlake are chosen by the coaches and we DO NOT have a #1 ranked team down to a #6 rank team. The only teams we choose the best players for is the National and American Teams.
TEAM ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING DECEMBER 12TH, 7:00 PM @ PARKWAY HS
This meeting is mandatory for all players, at least one parent, and coaches to attend. In the above video the left side of the screen is the old ruling and the right side of the screen is the new ruling showing "FAULT or NO FAULT" for each play on the ball. The key to the net call is that the player has to be directly playing the ball and touch the top tape of the net in most cases to be a FAULT.
NO COOLERS AT TOURNAMENTS, PERIOD.. KEEP THEM IN YOUR CAR, PERIOD..
PRACTICE LOCATIONS:
Weekends at: Parkway, Celina, New Bremen, Indian Lake, Marion Local
Weekdays at: Celina, New Bremen
Tournaments will usually be played unless there is a level III snow emergency for that county. If a level III or "No Travel" directive is in effect for that county, the tournament will be cancelled. The tournament director has the final say as to cancelling an event. A level I and II snow emergency still allows movement of vehicles within that county but you are advised to use extreme caution. Since weather patterns can vary greatly from north to south, east to west, most tournaments will stay on schedule and provide play for those teams that can make it to the site. It is still up to those parents to make the final decision as to whether or not it is safe to travel to such a tournament. Below is information in regards to the levels of snow emergencies.
In order to avoid confusion as to what a "snow advisory" actually means, the following "levels" were established as a guideline when such a declaration is made:
LEVEL
0There is no snow advisory in effect.
LEVEL
1Roadways are hazardous. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously.
LEVEL 2
Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads can be very icy. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roadways. People should contact their employer to see If they should report to work. Obviously, if you are driving, use extreme caution.
LEVEL 3
All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be driving during this condition unless it is absolutely necessary or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report for work. Anyone traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest.
Remember, it's impossible to know the condition of EVERY road in the county. These are only guidelines for the majority of roads. For example if the Advisory Level is set at 1, there may possibly be secondary roads that could be rated at level 2 or even possibly Level 3!
If there is snow present, you should always assume that the road ahead is worse than the stretch of road you are currently on. In short, drive with extra regard for your speed and those around you especially on curves, hills, and the bridges which usually freeze well before the rest of the roadway. Also give yourself PLENTY of stopping distance especially on icy roads.
Please Drive Safely!
Coaches and parents, if you have pictures you would like to send of the teams, please email to pics@grandlakevbc.com
